King's Holt Onwards and Upwards to King's Holt

"Your way is straight along the main road. Don't go to Hexworthy. You can't miss King's Holt. There's a drive up and a spinney of fir trees..."(p73) Luckily for us King's Holt is now a hotel (an hotel?) so we were able to go up the drive. However, there were people unloading and checking in so the photos are rushed, to put it mildly! I could have done with the twins to cause a distraction!

(p59) "Jon pointed to a dark clump of fir trees about a quarter of a mile off the road to the left. "I bet that's it! Looks lonely enough even for us!" He was right. There was no gate between the posts at the drive entrance and no notice except the word PRIVATE on a board."

There's a track from the house down to the river. "On the other side the slopes of Swincombe Tor rose steeply" p81

These next two show the view in either direction from the drive, away from the house. As Jon said, lonely enough.
